Making science work for development

GCRF Regional Event: Midlands - Webstreamed

14 September
University of Leicester

The Global Challenges Research Fund team are working with universities to deliver a series of events across the UK. The purpose of the events are to engage research and user communities with the GCRF Strategy and funding opportunities, and to share best practice. The events will also provide the opportunity to discuss practical elements of development research, such as partnership building and ODA compliance.

The University of Leicester is pleased to be holding the only Midlands regional event on 14th September, and are delighted to announce that we will be hosting guest speakers Professors Madara Ogot (University of Nairobi), Ferdos Jahan (University of Dhaka) and Sosten Chiotha (University of Malawi) throughout the day.

The event will be webstreamed. If you would like to join us remotely, from anywhere in the world, please join us at www.le.ac.uk/oda

Objectives

  • improve accessibility to GCRF opportunities through regional events

  • engage the UK academic community and broader research base with GCRF and future opportunities (including the second Collective Fund call)

  • introduce the GCRF Strategy and outline the research agenda for change as a 'framework' for research

  • provide real life examples/case studies on GCRF principles, such as ODA, equitable partnerships and partnership building

  • share best practice and lessons learned from other ODA-related activities, including the Collective Fund Growing Research Capacity and Capability call

  • prime the community for, and add value to, the programme of Global Engagement Meetings
