Science for Sustainable Development: Early-career Leaders Day

UKCDS, the Network of Early-career Sustainable Scientists & Engineers, the Royal Society of Chemistry and British Council are organising a Science for Sustainable Development: Early-career Leaders Day to be held on 2 December in London.

This event will provide an opportunity for early career scientists (pre-independent career) and professionals from across disciplines to share ideas, build connections with other young leaders and discuss how you can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The day will be professionally facilitated and will focus on group work, interdisciplinary working, and encouraging those attending to think creatively about tackling the global challenges.

The event will include:

  • Guido Schmidt-Traib, Executive Director of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network talking about the role of science and innovation in the sustainable development goals
  • Participatory activities exploring the role of research in the sustainable development goals
  • Workshops on applying for funding, publishing and developing a sustainable science culture
  • Inspiration and learning from scientists who have developed careers around sustainable development

The event will take place from 9am – 5:30pm on Friday 2nd December at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London 0BG W1J. Following the day, there will be an opportunity to socialise and mingle with attendees at a nearby bar. Please note that the workshop is free to attend and will include lunch and refreshments, but attendees will need to cover thier own travel costs.
