Announcements and News

  • Statistics for UK gross domestic expenditure on research and development: 2015 released.
  • UK-led research infrastructure projects supported by funding from the European Commission are considering moving all or part of their headquarters to other European Union countries from as early as 2019 – Research Professional
  • ESRC has announced seven new projects under the Secondary Data Analysis Initiative as part of the GCRF
  • The Minister of State for Universities and Science, has appointed Professor Jane Falkingham, Professor Nigel Gilbert, Professor Melinda Mills, and Ms Susan Penwarden as Council members for the ESRC – ESRC News

  • Summary of UK-India Research Collaboration funding opportunities
  • The Climate Science for Service Partnership China (CSSP China) has calls open on urban climate services and air quality services development in China. Expressions of interest by 11 April.
  • Newton Fund Researcher Links programme invites early career researchers to apply to participate in the Geological disaster monitoring based on sensor networks workshop in Harbin China by 14 April. The workshop will be held 14-17 July.
  • Royal Society of Chemistry Researcher Mobility Grant scheme supports PhD students and early career researchers to take short to mid-term scientific visits to overseas or UK institutions. Apply by 24 April.
  • The MRC Career Development Award (CDA) supports talented post-doctoral researchers to lead their own research plans and establish their own research team to make the transition from post-doctoral researcher to independent investigator. Apply by 25 April.
  • NERC, EPSRC and India's Department of Science and Technology (DST) jointly invite proposals to a new three-year research programme to improve water quality. Deadline 26 April.
  • MRC and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the Philippines invite concept proposals to the second UK-Philippines Joint Health Research Call focusing on Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases of relevance to the Philippines. Deadline 11 May.
