The large DFID programme, announced by their Chief Economist at the UKCDS event in January 2014 is well underway. It’s been named “Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE)”. The ‘Intellectual Leadership Team’ setting the vision for the programme are a stellar group of international academics led by Harvard/Centre for Global Development’s Lant Pritchett. They have published three vision documents outlining where they see the programme (and the wider community) going:

As the RISE programme defines its focus, and moves towards commissioning research, UKCDS will remain involved, promoting the funding calls widely, and seeking to connect the DFID programme to other UK and international funders to build momentum around the emerging field of education systems research for development.
